The ESfDS has co-signed an open letter to the German government on the Cyber Security Strategy for Germany 2021. In it, the signatories call for a halt to the measures aimed at expanding surveillance powers instead of IT security. The ESfDS considers the current measures to be insufficiently well thought out. Instead of sovereignty, the current cybersecurity strategy creates mistrust nationally, Europe-wide and internationally. We consider a postponement to the next legislative period with a sovereign revision to be appropriate.
